Fourth loss in last six games for baseball team

Brahmas’ baseball was one run short and had too many errors, again, in Thursday’s game against Mission College.

The game consisted on back-to-back runs from both teams beginning at the top of the second inning, where Pierce scored the first run on an RBI by sophomore Fernando Gallegos.

The Brahmas outhit the Eagles 16-10, but it was their errors, wild pitches, and base per balls that gave Mission the opportunity to lead the team throughout all nine innings ending up with a final score of 10-9 in their favor.

“We misread some fly balls that could have been caught, [and] our pitchers had too many walks,” said Brahmas’ infielder Matt Sanchez.

Offensively, Pierce brought it together and didn’t allow Mission to be a challenge but sometimes even one mistake is enough to fall and not be able to get back up on time.

“We put our heart to it more than any other game,” said head coach John Bushart. “But we still made mistakes and that’s why we lost.”

Even thought it was a close game, at the end of the day there has to be one winner and the Eagles took any given opportunity to do what was necessary to obtain it.

Double plays were key factors to their outcome.

“We had a solid defense today, our hitters were extremely discipline at the plate,” said Mission head coach Joe Cascione.

Pitcher Nick Murphy set the ball aside to put the bat to good use in the game, he was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and faced ten batters.

His ability to play both positions has helped the team with their performance.

The Brahmas’ have proven to be a team with dedication and desire, regardless of their struggles they have managed to stay positive and continue to improve.

According to coach Bushart, College of the Canyons (COC) has been their rivalry for over twenty years.
