UCLA/CSUN day to inform transfer applicants

UCLA and CSUN representatives from major departments on their campuses will be visiting Pierce for UCLA/CSUN Day May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Mall to answer students’ questions.

“I think it’s great that the students don’t have to go there to get the information, they can talk to the people who are familiar with the major directly,” Izzy Goodman, chair of the Chemistry department, said.

Cameron McCarthy, a construction management major, thought the idea was beneficial.

“It’s good for the economy around here to keep kids interested in local schools,” McCarthy said.

Professor Richard Follett is excited for his students who are being accepted and transferring.

“One of my students just got into the impacted history program at UCLA and he is so excited,” Follett said.

According to the flier, students who attend the event will have the opportunity to learn how competitive their intended major is, and what they can do to increase their chances of being accepted at these schools.

“I think it’s great whenever we can get students more familiar with what the expectations are in four year schools,” Goodman said.
