Think you have a poker face?

Then make sure you are all in for the Pierce College Football Program’s 1st Annual No Limit Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament.

It will be held on Saturday, June 30 in the Great Hall at 7p.m. and will continue until 11p.m.

The idea of the tournament was brought up years ago by football coach Efrain Martinez.

“I’ve seen a lot of high schools do it in order to fund raise,” Martinez said. “But it takes a lot of time to organize it.”

With all the budget cuts the football team has had to adapt to the times and find ways to fund raise.

“In addition to the tournament we are holding car washes,” Martinez said.

Prizes to the top players include: a 47″ flat screen TV, iPhone 4, and a 16 gigabyte iPad.

There will also be a silent auction, with food and drinks being sold separately.

Players must be 18 or older and can preregister for $50.

This may inspire a few of you to try out this card game for yourselves. Perhaps for fun at first, but you may want to up the stakes at some stage. In which case, you may want to brush up on your Texas Hold’em Poker skills! See here for a guide – テキサスホールデム

All fees paid by check will be tax deductible and can be mailed to:

Pierce College Football Poker Night
6201 Winnetka Ave.
Woodland Hills, CA 91371

Players can also pay the $60 fee at the door.

The football players have been promoting the tournament by creating a Facebook page, sending mass emails, and passing out flyers.

While the initial response has not been what the football teams hoped for they are still looking forward to the night.

“We are getting a lot of responses that say people will be paying at the door,” Martinez said.
