Pierce College’s baseball match against Los Angeles Valley College on Friday was postponed for Saturday due to unfavorable weather conditions.
As the Pierce Brahmas were warming up for the game, which took place at LAVC, a light drizzle quickly turned into a hailstorm that lasted a few minutes.
Once the storm passed, the parking lot and the field were covered with little ice pellets that quickly melted and turned the dirt field into a soppy mud pit unfit for a game to commence.
Head coaches John Bushart of Pierce and Dave Mallas of LAVC met briefly with the umpires and called for the game to be postponed until Saturday, when the Brahmas will have their second doubleheader of the season.
“The games are going to be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. tomorrow, weather permitting.” said Bushart.
Pierce’s game plan against Valley so far has not been altered, according to Bushart.
For game one, Bushart will be going with sophmore pitcher Derek Sesma (0-0), who had four strikeouts in his last outing. Freshman Bobby Schauer (1-0), who is looking to grab his second win of the season, will start game two.
Both games will be played on Kelly Field at Pierce.
