Beginning this semester, Pierce College’s official means of communication will be through its students’ new Los Angeles Community College District email accounts, according to an email sent to all students on March 5.
Here are some tips on how:
To log in to your new LACCD student email:
1. Go to https://student.laccd.edu to login.
- You can bookmark this site to make logging in easier in the future.
2. Enter your Student Identification Number in the “Student ID” field.
3. Enter your password, which is your PIN for your LACCD Student Information System account.
- Your PIN is your birthday (e.g. March 15 is “0315”), unless you have changed it.
- You can select “Remember me” if you are not using a publicly shared computer.
- Keep a record of your login information.
4. The first time you login, you’ll be redirected to a password recovery page. Select “OK.”
5. You will be prompted to select a timezone. Select Pacific Standard Time and then “OK.”
6. After you’ve logged in, keep a record of what your new LACCD student email is.
- Select “Options” in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select “See All Options…” from the dropdown menu.
- Your email address will be displayed near the left of the screen after “Windows Live ID.”
If you already have an email address and don’t want to have to check more than one, you can have emails that are sent to your new LACCD student email forwarded to another address.
To forward incoming emails to another email address:
1. Login to you LACCD student email.
2. Select “Options” in the top-right corner of the screen.
3. Select “See All Options…” from the dropdown menu.
4. On the right side of the screen, under the heading “Shortcuts to other things you can do,” select “Forward your e-mail.”
5. Enter the email address you to which you want to forward your incoming mail.
- If you want to keep a copy of the emails that will be forwarded in the your new LACCD student email, make sure the box next to “Keep a copy of forwarded messages in Outlook Web App” is checked.
6. Select “Start Forwarding.”
The new LACCD student emails come with a SkyDrive account with 25 gigabytes of storage.
SkyDrive is Microsoft’s bundle of cloud computing applications that includes versions of programs like Word, Excel and Powerpoint that can be downloaded.
