New food truck on campus

Variety has hit Pierce College in the form of a Falafel food truck located on the Mall across from the Library/Learning Crossroads.

For the first time a food truck serving middle-eastern cuisine has become a sensation in just two weeks of opening its mobile kitchen to the student body.

When asked the time frame of his truck’s presence on campus owner, Ofir Bass explained, “This is our first semester, we are under contract to be here for one year.”

Owning a restaurant located in Northridge off of Plummer Street, Falafelicious responded to catering orders of over two hundred people for Pierce faculty.

“At first we just did catering for the science building, the English department, and others, and we just became a success” according to Bass.

When Yanir Regev, a Pierce student was asked about the food he stated “This place is delicious, straight from Israel, great for vegans.”

Students have seemed to respond positively to the Mediterranean food with all dishes being just $5 Bass said “The other day we sold out of food. We sell the food to students at half price then what it really is at the restaurant.”

Another student Paula Deming explained, “It’s so good, I’m trying the schnitzel. I recommend it to everyone.”

According to Bass the food truck carries healthy food, all dishes being freshly cooked.

When asked if they were located on other campuses Bass stated “Not right now but my partner Linda Clumeck and I would love to expand and have a food truck on every campus.”

Falafelicious is officially available on the mall next to the library from Mondays-Thursdays 9:30 A.M. -5:30 P.M.
