Warriors’ big inning downs Pierce

The Pierce College baseball team lost to the El Camino College Warriors 15-11 in  a game in which Pierce lost a five-run lead in one inning on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The Brahmas remained safely in the lead until the bottom of the seventh inning. The score was 11-6 and it looked like Pierce would cruise to victory.

During the top of the eighth inning, the Warriors had scored seven more runs, which completely turned the game around. The Warriors sprang ahead 13-11.

By the bottom of the ninth inning, the Warriors scored scored two more runs, assuring their victory at 15-11.

This would bring the Brahmas’ season record to 6-4-1 and improve the Warriors season record to 6-5.

“There’s no secret, we need to throw better strikes and throw better pitches,” Pierce head coach John Bushart said. “We need to get better on the mound.”

The Brahmas’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. against Santa Ana.
