Los Angeles Community College District’s Board of Trustees introduced a new chancellor at a recent meeting, according to an email sent on March 13.
In the email sent out by Carol Justiniano, executive secretary to the board of trustees, the board had a unanimous vote to appoint Dr. Francisco Rodriguez in a closed session meeting.
Rodriguez, the superintendent and president of the Mira Costa Community College District for the past five years has been involved in higher education for over 30 years.
Earning both a BA and master’s degree in education from UC Davis and a Ph.D in education from Oregon State University, Rodriguez has been credited for turning around the struggling Mira Costa’s district.
Rodriguez was hired after a 10-month recruitment process conducted by the Association for Community College Trustees according to the email
The LACCD board committee is expected to conduct a final vote at its meeting on Wednesday, March 26, and Rodriguez is expected to take his new position with the LACCD on June 1.
