I want to congratulate Professor Fernando Oleas on his election to the Pierce AFT Chapter Presidency. He and his supporters worked hard and long for his election. Fernando has my full support and continued friendship.
I also want to thank the faculty that supported me, and my call for changes in our Chapter and Guild. It was a close race and only decided by 39 votes out of 219. More faculty voted in the runoff than in the elections.
The closeness of the race sends a message that many of the faculty resonated with my three campaign positions of Peace, Participation, and Progress. Now we need to come together and work towards their implementation.
