Throughout its 40-year history, The Tomato Patch has served deli foods and vegetarian dishes to countless diners in Woodland Hills.
The Tomato Patch is a small restaurant hidden inside of a shopping center on Corbin Avenue.
Upon entrance, one notices its two windows for ordering food and its two seating areas. There are big windows that allow natural light into the restaurant and a patio to sit at as well.
The warm reception from the staff made for a great ambiance.
The menu is printed on small brochures and contains deli sandwiches, vegetarian sandwiches, salads, freshly brewed tea and yogurt shakes.
Sandwiches come on various breads, such as wheat, sourdough, white, pita, bagel or egg, and each comes with slices of cucumber and pickle, as well as shredded carrots.
Salads are served with pita bread or crackers, and the choices of dressing include ranch, Italian, honey dijon, sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, Caesar, Chinese chicken and blue cheese.
The BLT sandwich on pita bread was light but bold due to the bacon. The Triple Threat is a zesty salad that has tuna, tabuli, grape leaves, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Romaine lettuce. The veggie sandwich is a tangy sandwich that you can add red onions or alfalfa sprouts to.
After the meal, they give you a small cup of frozen chocolate yogurt as a dessert.
Many people around the area know of The Tomato Patch. Kirsty Baker eats there once a week and recommended the chicken salad.
Baker said the prices for the Tomato Patch were “reasonable.” Owner Lucy Ekiziam said that the restaurant opened 40 years ago and that it is known “via word of mouth.”
The Tomato Patch’s longevity gives it a bit of a historical presence, while its five-star Yelp rating shows that it serves quality food.
The Tomato Patch is located on 19730 Ventura Blvd., Ste. 103, Woodland Hills, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
