Employers will meet with students along the Mall at Pierce College during the Career and Transfer Center’s Job Fair on April 2 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Organized by Career Center Director Joanna Towne, the Job Fair is held once each semester, and allows students a chance to seek jobs and careers off-campus without leaving Pierce.

Employers attending this year include, but are not limited to, ChildCare Careers, the Los Angeles Police Department, Sears Operation Center and Warner Bros.

“We’ve had increased employers the last couple semesters that I’ve been here,” Career Guidance Counseling Assistant Nicole Goddard said. “We had [about] 20 employers my first semester, and had 46 employers last semester.”

Networking and resume workshops are available to prepare students for the event.

“We talk about how to prepare and how to research the company beforehand,” Career Guidance Counseling Assistant Arpi Kumuryan said. “We let the students know how to dress, what to bring with them, how to approach [potential employers], and how to follow up with the employer.”

Appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 – 2 p.m. year-round at the Career Center, where students interested in career counseling can receive resume advice and seek answers to other career related questions.

“Students who are dressed professionally tend to stand out,” said Towne. “A resume to hand in gives a better chance of getting something from the job fair because the employer will be impressed that the student came prepared.”
