The men’s basketball team for Pierce College were two points away from ending its last home game of the season with a victory.

After trailing for the majority of the game, the Oxnard Condors forced overtime against the Brahmas and snuck out of Pierce with a one-point win on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

When a game ends this close, sometimes you can pinpoint a single missed freethrow, a poor pass that led to a turnover and fast break or another missed opportunity. This was not the case for this game. Pierce shot 14-16 from the free throw line and didn’t make too many mistakes, recording 10 turnovers which is two below the Brahmas’ season average.

The game was instead decided by Oxnard College’s 3-point shooting display. They are ranked fifth in the conference in three point shooting percentage compared to Pierce that is ranked 53rd in that category.

Pierce had one final chance to win the game in overtime with .3 seconds left on the clock. The Brahmas inbounded under its basket but was not able to connect on the lob pass and tip in.

The Brahmas will play it’s final game of the season at Santa Barbara against the Vaqueros on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.
