Pierce and Santa Barbara City College played a clumsy game with many errors committed on both sides. The game was played to four sets.
Ultimately Pierce won, 25-17, 25-23, 25-18.
Pierce took the first set with a score of 25-17. Santa Barbara won the second set, 25-16. Pierce came back and took the third and fourth set, 25-23 and 25-18.
“Even though we won, we were just off,” Coach Nabil Mardini said. “It was an ugly match, but we found a way to win.”
Mardini said the team’s serving and passing were not where they needed to be for the game.
