Speed was a factor in Pierce’s loss to Cuesta, 21-13, on Thursday, Oct. 20.
Cuesta’s strong start in the first quarter would dictate how the match would play out.
“The key to water polo is conditioning,” said Judi Terhar, coach for Pierce’s women’s water polo team. “What our team needs is speed and our players need to get their speed up.”
Tamar Kazanjian, team captain of Pierce’s water polo team, scored 6 goals, many of them coming in the second half of the match.
“We had a good game despite the loss,” Tamar said. “Our second half was definitely better but we need to work harder for every shot and work as a team because our next match is conference so we need to be ready for it.”
Pierce is a participant in the Santa Barbara tournament where they will compete against Santa Barbara Community College and Allan Hancock College.
