The No. 7 Pierce Brahmas (5-1, 13-5) went on the road and defeated the Santa Barbara Community College Vaqueros (2-4, 5-13) in straight sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-15).
The Brahmas controlled the nets through much of the match with Bernardo Roese, the state’s top setter, leading the way with 40 assists in the match.
The victory ties Pierce with Moorpark for first in the Western State Conference – North.
The next matchup for the Brahmas will be in the regional playoffs, teams and seeding still to be determined.
