Interim president named

In an email sent Monday, July 23, LACCD Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez announced that the role of interim president at Pierce will be filled by Lawrence Buckley, beginning Aug. 6.

Buckley has more than 30 years of experience as a faculty member and administrator in the California Community College and University of Hawai’i systems, according to Rodriguez’s email.

Sheri Berger currently serves as acting president at Pierce after former president Kathleen Burke was hired as Chancellor of the South Orange County Community College District and she took a temporary position as LACCD interim deputy chancellor.

In his email, Rodriguez also said he expects to hire the firm that will select a permanent president in August.
