BRIEF: Swimmers make a splash at Cuesta

Several swimmers rose up to the occasion in the second meet held at Cuesta College on Feb. 29. 

The Brahmas were without Ava Recchia and Melany Degutis who missed out due to having a Saturday class.

Wyatt Feldman, who competed at the state championships last year, finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.34.

Zaki Katibah, who had a great meet in Santa Clarita, placed third in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:12.35. He also placed sixth in the 400 individual medley at 4:41.23.

In the other races, Jake Jepson finished seventh in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:16.71.

Adonis Robbins and Drew McDonald missed out on the top 16 in their races, finishing 18th in the 200-yard breast and 400 IM respectively.

For the women, Jennifer Cheng placed third in the 200-yard breast at 2:40.48 and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.08.

Cheng also teamed up Maria Sandoghdar, Nanako Fujikura and Allison Schamber in the 400 freestyle relay. They finished fifth in the race. 

Fujikura competed in the 200 free and backstroke events. 

Sandoghdar swam the mile and finished eighth at 22.01.58.

Piper Levine competed in the 400 IM and finished with a time of 6:27.19.

Anna Maritxell placed 14th in the 200-yard butterfly.

Maritxell also teamed with Chloe Bryant, Naomi Anaya and Levine in the 400-medley relay.

The next meet will be at Pierce College on March 27 at 11 a.m.
