Most students must have heard of the Associated Students Organization. The ASO Web site calls it a “student government [that] supports the growth of the Pierce Campus through active involvement with students, faculty and staff. Our goal is to create a better environment for an overall academic experience through leadership.”Campus clubs include the Akiba Club, Boots & Saddles Club, Gay Straight Alliance, International Students Club, Pre-Vet Club, Sociology Club, the Engineering Club and more.Forming a club requires a completed Club Application Packet, a faculty or staff advisor and six or more members who have paid the ASO fee of $7. All clubs are governed by the ASO club council president.I have always wanted to join a club. Most of my friends and I only get a chance to interact with one another in class or on campus.One of my friends introduced me to the International Students Club. As a result, I went to the International Foods Potluck on March 15 at Balboa Park. I met many people at Wednesday’s meeting and though we had only met once, it seemed to me that we had known each other for a long time. We are in the same club – it binds us together.It’s been a very good experience for me to go out and be with friends.
