Women’s volleyball home game win streak: 55

OCT. 3, 2008 – Ranked first in the state, the Pierce College women’s volleyball team defeated Ventura College Friday, 3-0, extending their home winning streak to 55.

The Brahmas, now 17-1 for the season, won all three sets by double-digits; 25-12, 25-13 and 25-15. Outside hitters Sarah Martin and Janet Alvarado led the team in kills with 12 and eight respectively. Libero Ashley Clark and defensive specialist Brittany Sousa led the team in aces with two each.

“We definitely played very consistent,” said Nabil Mardini, who is in his eighth season as head coach. “We played our game and we were solid the whole night.”

Next up for the Brahmas is a trip to Glendale Tuesday, when they will face Glendale Community College, whose volleyball team is 4-5 for the season.
