The Psychology teacher sits with his legs crossed, looking relaxed as he ponder over his retirement plan. Hiking, traveling, gardening and watching pro football are on the list of things to do as he lightens up his workload
Edward Mazeika, 61, has been teaching for 33 years, but he is only retiring from teaching full-time. He said he is only cutting back—teaching part-time.
The self-proclaimed “popular surfer” was a 1967 graduate of Culver City High School.
“I feel like trying out a new adventure, but I have a great job and it is hard to leave during this time,” said Mazeika.
This means he will no longer be attending the conference meetings or be involve on the campus politics.
According to Mazeika, he will miss the students his currently in contact with, but won’t miss correcting and grading all the papers for his Social Psychology, Personally and Social Development 13 and 3.
“I have been here for four years and he was chair for three years,” said Ann Hennessey, professor of Psychology. “He helped us become better and to be more cohesive—he is a real special guy.”
“I am not going to zero I am just cutting back,” said Mazeika.
He has an A.A Degree from Santa Monica, a B.A from University of Los Angles, M.A from Pepperdine and a Ph.D from University of Southern California.
