Student body government candidates for the 2012-13 school year will be answering questions in a public forum Thursday in the Great Hall.
The forum will begin at noon and run until 2 p.m., giving student voters a chance to meet their future Associated Student Organization (ASO) representatives.
Shane Mooney, current ASO president, is the only candidate running for president.
“There was another person running, but he dropped out,” Mooney said.
Patty Sanchez, current ASO vice president, is running against ASO Treasurer Fernando Aquino and Pierce student Kevin Sparks for the vice presidency.
ASO Senator Kanny Morgan is the only candidate running for treasurer.
ASO Senator Antoinette Mannie is the only candidate running for the position of club council president.
Student body elections will be held on the Mall, in front of the Great Hall, Monday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday, April 17 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Voters will also be choosing a new student trustee to serve on the Board of Trustees, representing all of the ASO’s within the Los Angeles Community College District.
The following students are running for the position of student trustee:
Jamaal As-Salaam, student trustee candidate
Daniel Campos, ASO president at Mission College.
Richard Hernandez, ASO vice president at Harbor College.
Daerique Jamison, student trustee candidate
Campos will also be in attendance to speak to the crowd about his candidacy for student trustee, according to Mooney. No word on the other student trustee candidates.
The organizer of the forum, EJ Tormes, ASO club council president, says that there will be coffee and conversation.
“Attending the forum can help students make the most out of their right to vote,” said Tormes.
