CSU-transferring angst? Don’t be discouraged
In light of CSU campuses accepting 10,000 less students for the fall ’09 semester, Pierce College students that are planning on transferring to a university may feel discouraged. Applications are up 20 percent this semester for CSU schools and 36 percent for transfer students.
The end of the streak
The number-one-ranked women’s volleyball team at Pierce College ended their 61-home-game winning streak in the second round of regionals, with about half of the spectators cheering for Orange Coast College (OCC) at the South Gym Saturday night. Pierce finished out the state finals 1-1, with a season score of 30-2.
Keeping promises
Barack Obama’s platform awakened sleeping collegiate voters. More young people than ever before came out to the polls Nov. 4 to vote for change in this country. We followed through by voting and now we are expecting the proposed ideas from our President-elect to actually happen.

Heartbreaking home opener for men’s basketball
The Pierce College men’s basketball team lost their first home game of the season by three points Wednesday to Los Angeles City College in the final minutes of the game.
Women’s volleyball beats San Bernardino
WOODLAND HILLS – The Pierce College women’s volleyball team beat the San Bernardino Valley College Wolverines on Wednesday. The Pierce team started strong on their season opening game by sweeping the Wolverines in three sets; 25-11, 25-20 and 25-14.
