$$One textbook bill passes, another dies
N-TXTBK-NY 1-1-1-1 Two bills, attempting to combat high textbook prices, were sent to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s desk this month, but on Oct. 12 Assembly Bill 1548 passed, and will take affect in 2010, while Senate Bill 832 was vetoed. Both bills were similar in that they aim to inform instructors about edition changes, what additional supplements come with the books and most importantly prices.

The Moorpark College Raiders ran straight through the Pierce College Brahmas football team, ending the night with a 52-32 defeat, Saturday at Shepard Stadium. The defeat solidifies a 3 game losing streak, bringing the Brahmas record to 3 wins and 5 losses.

At a meeting Oct. 22 the Pierce College Academic Senate discussed harsh consequences for cigarette smokers that do not smoke in the designated areas around campus. “How big do we have to make these signs!” said Diane Levine, academic senate member and professor of anthropology.

During the Pierce College Academic Senate meeting on Oct. 22, members discussed new regulations to enforce smoking on campus. The Academic Senate is proposing a new regulation that would make Pierce College a smoke-free campus. “Smokers aren’t complying with the signs,” said Diane Levine, secretary of Academic Senate and professor of anthropology.
