While many students may think that the health fee tacked onto the cost of registration merely covers headaches and paper cuts, they may be surprised to know that their $11 health fee includes access to full staff of personal counselors. By utilizing both the Student Health Center and the personal counselors in the Counselor’s Office, students can receive expert counseling advice at no additional cost, thanks to the health fee that is already paid for every semester.

For honors student Vaughan Gendelman, 29, anthropology major, the Honors Program is the conduit towards his point of destination. “I’m glad there’s an Honors Program,” said Gendelman. “It’s a nice way to ensure that I get into UCLA.” Unofficially, he is looking to transfer next year.

For the second presentation of the Fall 2007 Professors’ Lecture series, Maestro James Domine took to the helm and conducted an exciting lesson on the subject “The Development of Opera” for mostly older adults.

Over 40,000 people are being infected by HIV/AIDS in United States each year, and more than 25 million people have died from AIDS since 1981. Half the people having HIV infection every day is under the age of 25, and as of 2005, California is ranked number two in cases of AIDS involving young adults.
