Renegades eat humble pie in surprising loss
A sense of elation permeated the air Monday at a team barbecue in the Field House at Shepard Stadium that had everything to do with the football team’s 17-8 upset victory over the Renegades at Bakersfield Saturday. “It’s a major win for the program,” said head coach Dave Banuelos.
The ‘times are a-changing’ with new football receiver
The Pierce football team has been the butt of many a joke in semesters past, that’s no secret. Well, the times they are a-changing. Helping to usher in these changes is their new receiver, Ramon Perry. This is Perry’s first semester at Pierce, but he’s definitely nothing new to football, having played for upwards of five years.
What events do you do in your free time that you would like to see on campus?
I would like to see a figure-skating competition, or maybe bring back the rodeo. Sharon Vaturi Maybe concerts: hip-hop, rap, rock. Mariama Fofana I would like to have special occasion dances similar to high school dances. Xochitl Mora We could have a talent show.

“Missing Students” exhibit rescheduled Swisher Park Wednesday, Nov. 10, all day (rain or shine) The long-awaited collection will be displayed at Pierce for one day only. The sculptures were designed to raise awareness of the number of students missing at community colleges due to budget cuts last year.
LACCD Web site wins gold
A ‘Gold Medallion of Excellence’ was awarded to the Los Angeles Community College District, of which Pierce is a part, for its Web site. Judging was based on creativity and effective marketing. Awards were given by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations earlier this month at its annual conference to recognize outstanding achievement in communications for community, junior and technical college professionals.
‘Lamb of God’ rocks the crowd

Blood Brothers review
Lies, death, despair, attempted knifings, drug addiction, teen pregnancy, poverty, jealousy and social class dissociation – all set to a campy musical backdrop? Doesn’t seem quite right, does it? But somehow, the cast of “Blood Brothers,” the Theatre Arts department’s fall production, makes it work without any hint of contrivance.
Brahmas control playoff destiny in women’s soccer
Heather Herrera is small by soccer standards at a diminutive 5’2″, but she’s a fearless and relentless tackler whose opponents often end up on their behinds after an encounter with her for control of the ball. And to add insult to injury, Herrera scored the only goal that mattered early in the game against the Corsairs at the Soccer Pit on Friday.
