Swimmers’ Secret Weapon: Training
“To left to left, to right to left to left, One, Ready go!” yelled out Judith Terhar, assistant coach for Pierce College swimming team. The swimmers’ hands, raised in formation, line the pool. Head coach Fred Shaw explained that their techniques are a different aspect of training, part of it which teaches people to stroke efficiently and strongly so they can go their fastest.
From Ivy Leaguers to rock stars
Vampire Weekend’s self-titled debut album was released three months ago, but thanks to a lot of attention from the online blogging scene, the album is still going strong. Consisting of Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson and Chris Baio (who is actually actor Scott Baio’s nephew), Vampire Weekend has managed to put together an album that is very inviting to any music listener, young or old.
Half century of Dodger glory
Travel back in time 50 years to a time where the westernmost Major League Baseball team resided in St. Louis, to a time in which the only baseball team Southern California had ever known was the Hollywood Stars, and to a time where visionary Brooklyn Dodgers’ owner Walter O’Malley would change that forever.
Shelter from the fires
The raging fires that took place in October and November were no match for the Boots and Saddles club, who came riding in on their white horses – which they like to call trailers. Being honored by the city of Los Angeles , Pierce College and members of the Boots and Saddles Club received certificates and pins at the Equestrian Center April 11 for their volunteer work during the fires last fall.
