The baseball team fell short of a victory Thursday, losing 10-9 to Bakersfield in one of the closest games of the season, according to head coach Joe Arnold. Pierce has now fallen four games behind, which makes it very crucial for them to do well in their next few games to clench a playoff spot.

Volleyball scholarships
Three women’s volleyball players have been awarded scholarships: Ashley Lugo-Brown, Terra Henn and Jenna Novelli. Lugo-Brown will be attending Cal State Long Beach in the fall, Novelli is already attending Truman State University in Missouri and Henn is deciding between scholarships to Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Chico, University of Louisiana and Wayland Baptist in Texas.

Reggie Smith Jr., son of former MLB player Reggie Smith, has turned a new chapter in his life by accepting the defensive coordinating job for the Pierce College football team. He came to us after coaching at Chaminade High School in West Hills for the past five years.

The Pierce College tennis team fought hard and triumphed as they competed in a tennis match against Glendale College, with three sets out of six won on Friday. This season they are playing in the Western State Conference, in which they won a match against Hancock College on Feb.
