Holding the number one spot in California, the women’s volleyball team scored the 57th victory of their home game-winning streak against Glendale Community College.

Last year’s team saw four players drafted by Major League ball clubs: Dan Berlind (Minnesota Twins), David Fonseca (Milwaukee Brewers), Dan Heller (Baltimore Orioles) and Travis Turek (Cleveland Indians).
Swimmers’ Secret Weapon: Training
“To left to left, to right to left to left, One, Ready go!” yelled out Judith Terhar, assistant coach for Pierce College swimming team. The swimmers’ hands, raised in formation, line the pool. Head coach Fred Shaw explained that their techniques are a different aspect of training, part of it which teaches people to stroke efficiently and strongly so they can go their fastest.

Backing athletics with brownies
FANS in the Stands, organized by Barbara Anderson, professor and chair of speech and communication, is letting faculty at Pierce College know that attending sports events at Pierce can get them a taste of her homemade brownies. Anderson explained the importance of encouraging others to attend the sports events.
Pierce baseball loses close game to Bakersfield
The baseball team fell short of a victory Thursday, losing 10-9 to Bakersfield in one of the closest games of the season, according to head coach Joe Arnold. Pierce has now fallen four games behind, which makes it very crucial for them to do well in their next few games to clench a playoff spot.
Seventh-inning wreckage stomps Brahmas
The Pierce College baseball team struggled to overcome El Camino College’s early lead on Mar. 19, losing 12-4. “I know Pierce is a pretty good team,” said Nathan Fernley, El Camino’s head coach. “I know their pitchers throw very well, there are three or four here that are pretty good.
