Injuries dominated the season

“Bowl game or bust.” Head coach Efrain Martinez firmly declared his team’s philosophy during one of the Brahmas’ final practice sessions in early September. The second-year head coach sought to improve upon his 2007 rookie season, in which Pierce College compiled a 5-5 record, but retained only 11 sophomores for 2008, a year that saw the Brahmas plagued by injuries and a lack of team chemistry, all culminating in a 2-8 season record and no bowl game attended.

Slow start continues with home loss

The men’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker on Saturday, falling 75-71 to the Saddleback Gauchos (5-5) at Pierce College. The Brahmas (2-7) came out slow in the first half, falling behind early on. The Gauchos continued to tack on points, and lead by as many as 12 points, taking advantage of Brahma turnovers and their inability to get many good shots off.

eBooks: free, useful resources for finals

When writing a term paper or during finals when students are trying to cramp in every minute they can get for studying, eBooks can be very helpful and the cost is free. The Pierce College library added more eBooks, digital versions of published print materials, to its collection earlier this semester, which currently has more than 15,000 eBooks already gathered including reference, research and reading materials.
