The Pierce College women’s volleyball team, ranked first in the state defeated Ventura College Friday night in front of a packed crowd. The team, now 17-1 for the season has won 55 straight matches at home, a streak that dates back to October of 2002.
For most students at Pierce College, the Student Community Center might as well be another “do not enter” zone. The SCC opened at the end of last semester. When it first opened, there were people around campus promoting the Center to students. Since then, however, nothing has been done to make students aware of the building.

About five years ago, my grandma kept a serious secret from the family. We usually don’t keep secrets because our entire family is really close. For some reason, grandma felt that this time, we shouldn’t know. Grandma and Grandpa live in Las Vegas, which is hours away from half of the family.
Ranked 14th in the state, Rocio Abundez and the rest of the Pierce College soccer team pulled out a late-game miracle to stave off a loss and tie the third ranked Pirates of Ventura College, 1-1, Friday afternoon at the Pit. With Pierce trailing 1-0 as soon as fifteen minutes into the game, Abundez unleashed a kick from the sideline that barely cleared the outstretched fingertips of Ventura goalkeeper Aslyn Rau, drawing the Brahmas even with five minutes left to play — sending the bench as well as the Brahma faithful in attendance into a frenzy.
The first of three showings for the Foreign Film Lecture Series started with “City of God” two weeks ago, and the remaining events will take place Oct. 22 and Nov. 19.
The Perkins Vocational grant award would allow Pierce to launch a pet-grooming class to help students in need of career paths.
The addition of 100 more faculty spaces in Parking Lot 1, near Administration, should be complete by Jan. 1.
