The art gallery opened its doors Sept. 10 for the viewing of Rebecca Edwards’ exhibit, “Fables and Follies,” which will run through Oct. 8. Huge pieces like the “Tall Chair Mannequins” and “Rapunzel’s Revenge” have piqued the interest of both students and professors.
Along with the beginning of the fall semester a recycling program has also been implemented into Pierce campus.
The women’s volleyball team, seven-time Western State Conference Champions, kicked off their 2008 season by winning the Women’s Volleyball Las Vegas Tournament for the first time in four yearsSept. 5 and 6. “This year we are more experienced as a volleyball players,” said Head coach Nabil Mardini, who anticipated a successful run in the tournament.
Many decades ago there was no Warner Center, Victory Boulevard or even Pierce College. Today we are an expanding world and a growing economy. Steps have to be made to accommodate for our growing community at Pierce. Improvements were made last semester for our past ware and tear on our farm road.

Two new deans, Jose Luis Fernandez, dean of career and technical education, and Barbara Anderson, dean of academic affairs, were appointed on Aug. 11 and Sept. 1, respectively, at Pierce College. Fernandez worked as dean of vocational education at Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif.
A make over is in store for the Pierce College online orientation program, due to receive an update next year that will make the site more user-friendly and accessible. The new online orientation program will include student testimonials regarding classes and campus life, but the most important upgrade will be accessibility by hearing or visually impaired students, an addition made in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A crowd of 600 packed Shepard Stadium Saturday night as the lights shone bright on the field for the first time this season, but not bright enough as the Brahmas dropped their home opener, 28-17, to the Moorpark College Raiders. The crushing blow, however, did not involve the scoreboard at all.
