Children’s dance auditions: cuttin’ a rug

Auditions for students interested in showing off their “groovin’ skills” in the Children’s Dance Theater will be Sunday at 9 a.m. in the North Gym, room 5601. Marian S. Weiser, who went by the name Scriffin when she danced, is anticipating the upcoming auditions for all styles of dance, ranging from ballet, improve and tap to jazz, modern dance and hip hop.

Summer session a chance to make up courses

With six weeks left, the end of Pierce College’s spring semester is rushing up on students, bringing the relaxation of class-free, glowing sunshine days for a week before they can continue on in their pursuit for education during the two summer sessions. As usual, summer classes will be broken up into two sessions of five weeks each.

More than 25 student poets, singers, musicians and dancers gathered in the Campus Center to show off their talents at the Open Mic event. Students were given an opportunity to sign up and take advantage of a free mic, an open stage and the attention of fellow students and performers.

Alumni edges out men’s volleyball

With a deep, resounding “HOOOUAHH!” the current Brahmas kicked off Saturday’s volleyball game against alumni who played in the same gym as long as 22 years ago. Testosterone filled the air, but the mood was light, and the atmosphere, friendly. Many of the alumni wore their old team jerseys or state championship t-shirts, and high-fives reverberated through the gym after every point.
