Best-selling author Frank Warren was walking across campus last month. While visiting the art hill, he realized that he had never taken an art class. He also realized that the only English class he had ever enrolled in was a remedial one. One may not know the name, but his ongoing art project maybe more recognizable to some.
MySpace is Everybody’s Space. More than 60 million people use MySpace to promote their music, develop relationships and talk dirty with their friends from the privacy of their own homes. What they don’t realize is that MySpace is really “Everybody’s Space,” including sexual predators searching for teens and employers spying into the personal lives of potential job candidates.

As we enter the month of turkeys, relatives and elections, it’s easy to forget how much we take for granted. From our mouthfuls of gobbler, to our time spent with family and our freedom to choose our own representatives we forget what we have. We forget what so many gave their lives for and put themselves at risk to protect.

Jamming in the cafeteria is nothing new to this Pierce College band, unforutnetly they are still without a name. “For our name we want something that has kind of a blues feel…something with trains,” said Beth Nordeen, 33, who plays rhythm guitar. After announcing last month that free HIV testing would no longer be available on the Pierce College campus, the Health Center will once again be offering confidential testing beginning November 13. In addition to the confidential testing, the speaker’s bureau Being Alive will be returning to campus for an AIDS/HIV Awareness Week that will highlight personal accounts of living with HIV/AIDS.
Approximately 18,657 students are enrolled at Pierce College this semester. A population that throughout the years has become increasingly diverse despite the contrary difficulty that the University of California campuses experience each year in attracting students, particularly those with distinct ethnic backgrounds.
The number of students enrolled in Pierce College’s concurrent enrollment program is growing, and the students are getting younger. “If the student looks 14-years-old, they probably are,” said Izzy Goodman, president of the Pierce Academic Senate. Concurrent student enrollment at Pierce, students in kindergarten through 12th grade, has reached 1,548 students, a majority of whom are still in high school.
