Pierce College could see a drop in the number of classes offered for Fall 2012, depending on how the district plans to allocate their funding
Web Update: The French Clubs film festival “The ToureEs Festival” opened to day at 3p.m. in the Great Hall with the film “Coco Avant de Chanel”
The film is the story of the designer Coco Chanel and her life before she made it as a big time designer.
The French Club charges $1 for admission and another $1for drinks and or popcorn. All money goes to help fund other projects for the French Club.
Tomorrow they will host their 2ndfilm “Indigenes” in the Great Hall at 3p.m.
The college will add $2.4 million to its budget by the end of the year as a result of overall growth, according to an announcement by Pierce College President Robert Garber at Monday’s Academic Senate meeting. However, Garber said the budget is “looking grim,” explaining that recent cuts made by the state in K-12 education spending will ultimately affect the community colleges as well.
The new software that will do away with the “waiting list” enrollment process at Pierce College was discussed at the Academic Senate meeting Feb. 25. A handout that described how the new method would be more efficient was presented by Robert Martinez, academic policy vice president and William Duxler, physics and planetary science department chair.
