Vending machine woes

In the 4 snack machines on campus, there are two healthy choices: Mr. Nature’s Trail Mix and Nature Valley granola bars. Some people don’t mind this. “No! Don’t take our vending machines away!” said Jessica Bravatti, 17. She said she would definitely not support a health kick in the vending machines, but she did say that, given a choice between fried chips and veggie chips, she would buy the latter. Unfortunately, veggie chips are not available in the vending machines. Charles Savage, 24, expressed similar feelings: multigrain chips over veggie or fried. “I would support maybe making the vending machines have half healthy food,” he said.

Vending machines are convenient for grabbing something quickly between classes or during a break, but that convenience comes at a price. Not only is there a much larger selection of snacks in the Student Store, but the ones that can also be found in the vending machines can be as much as 60 cents cheaper. In addition, there is an entire extra rack of healthy items in the Student Store that do not appear in the vending machines.
