Letter to the Editor

To Whom It May Concern:

In reference to the editorial, Making a Clean Sweep, dated October 10, 2007

I work in one of the departments at Pierce. I arrive to work at 7:45 AM and open up the building. I see our custodian cleaning as I arrive. The bathroom is always in ship shape order when she leaves.

Several months ago around 10:00 AM as I was leaving the restroom, a student approached me and asked if I worked here at Pierce. I told her I did, at which point she told me that the restroom was disgusting and I should alert someone. I told her that I had just been in the restroom an hour before and it was clean and that it is the students that have created the mess.

I also don’t understand the reference in the last paragraph of the editorial that a little initiative from administration could very well spark that change. What is the administration suppose to initiate?

I think the students need to take responsibility for their actions and not just try to push off the blame on the hardworking staff.
