Welcome to Pierce:

The people we allow to play soccer on our fields are trashing the Village restrooms.

Our custodial staff, already overstretched with Pierce College’s 20,000 students, does not need the added mess.

Now, thanks to the soccer organizations that play soccer here and students who walk onto the campus, the custodians must deal with the mud and grass the kids and students bring along with them when they come to use our bathrooms.

Let’s have some mercy on these people who are doing their best to keep this campus clean, in particular the new buildings in the Village.

Walk into a bathroom anywhere on campus and people will be doing their business.

If you walk into the Village restrooms at certain times of the day and you’ll find more than just that.

On multiple occasions there has been grass and mud either on the walls, around the rim of the trash cans, in the sinks and occasionally in the urinals, and stalls, as well.

A restroom isn’t expected to be the cleanest place on earth, but having mud and grass all over the place makes it look disgusting.

Why on earth would anyone clean their cleats in the urinals? We have no idea.

The people who train and play their games on the field naturally walk off with muddy shoes.

They could just clean their shoes on the field or in the parking lot, rather than the Village restrooms.

Alternatively, the administration could install boot scrapers used at golf courses to clean their shoes in the Village restrooms.

The same goes for the people who walk across the fields from the corner of Victory Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue.

After crossing the fields they do the same with their shoes.

These people renting our fields are doing so to learn the game of soccer, while our own students cross the field to get to class.

At the same time, they’re all dirtying our campus.

They can use our facilities, but is it too much to ask that these visitors treat it with some respect?
