Genuine. Compassionate. Empathetic. Patient. My mom.One of the most important things in my life is to have a good relationship with my parents. My mom and I have always been extremely close. With Mother’s Day approaching, I feel she definitely deserves a day to shine and enjoy all the wonderful things that life has to offer. My grandmother died when I was only a year old. I feel my mom wants what her and her mom never had. Mom and dad divorced when I was 3 years old, so my mom had a tremendous responsibility as a single mother and a full-time worker She struggled to pay for a good education for me at a private school, but managed. And she made sure that I was well-fed and taken care of, as I had to stay at school until 5:30 p.m. Mom could care less about everything else in the world; she just wanted to make sure I was safe and content. I feel so fortunate to have such a selfless human being care for me so much.At the age of 24, I still call my mom “mommy.” Yes, I’m a total momma’s girl. We hang out all the time, and I truly do cherish our relationship. She recently came back from a 10-day trip to Colorado to visit a friend of hers, and I must admit, I did shed some tears. I can’t begin to explain how much I missed her. Even though I still live at home, I call my mom everyday while at work just to say “hi.” And when I go out at night, she wants the lowdown: where I’m going, who I’m with and what time I’ll be home. Just as my mom has cared for me, I will definitely be there for her when she is old and needs her Depends changed. Not only do I have a mom, I have a best friend.So, remember your mom on Mother’s Day. Cherish every moment you have with her, as she won’t be here forever.Have a great day, mom. I love you.
