A 3-0 merciless win is added to Pierce College ‘s records against West Los Angeles College on Tuesday.

Although West L.A. scored the first point of the game, Pierce quickly scored five points within the first three minutes.

“We’re not nervous about the game. We played Pierce before and it gave us insight on what we have to work on to beat them,” said West L.A. player Margo Coleman before the game.

“We’ve been working on beating Pierce since the last time we played them,” Coleman went on to say.

During the game, most of the points West L.A. received were off of minor errors made by Pierce.

However, Pierce quickly scored the necessary 25 points required to win a round, which left West L.A. trailing behind at least 15 points in each round.

“We were very aggressive but they’re a good team,” said West L.A. captain Precious Reid.

“It’s our first season. We haven’t had a volleyball team in seven years,” Reid explained.

Pierce head coach Nabil Mardini was pleased with how the game went.

“We took care of our own side of the court,” Mardini said.

The players on Pierce’s team were excited about the win because if they had lost the game it would have put them in a tie for first place with what they consider rival school, College of the Canyons.

“We played what we consider Brahma ball,” said Pierce’s setter Terry Soltani.

She described Brahma ball to be mastery of the fundamentals, competing like crazy and being a team player.

“These girls have no life other than school and volleyball and we appreciate that,” said assistant coach Brad Lyans.

“There’s a lot of commitment on this team.” Lyans said.

The next game is a home game against College of the Canyons on Thursday which the team explained to be a very important game.
