Reality TV, a sick portrayal
What happened to Tila Tequila’s first soul mate from season one of “A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila?” What about that of Bret Michaels from “Rock of Love?” And the unlucky bloke from “I Love New York?” The sick portrayal of romance idolized by hundreds of thousands of teenagers is a twisted reflection of America’s values, which seem to be founded on an “entertainment first, integrity second” basis.
My technological distraction
Hi. My name is Harold. I’m an addict. Not to alcohol, but to technology. No matter what, I always have to be around something technological. Whether it’s a laptop or a television set, I can’t stay away from them. There used to be a time when all I did was read books.

Students opt to stay out of debt with self discipline
Growing up, most young people no longer spend mom and dad’s money. However, they get credit cards to substitute for what they are no longer getting. Although the cost of going to college can amount to ridiculously high prices, including everything from transportation to books and laptop computers, it is become easier for students to get credit cards – and dig themselves into huge pits of debt.
‘Sneakerheads’ spend hundreds to have new, collectible kicks
Sneakers have become collectables, and the people who have them in every color and style refer to themselves as “sneakerheads.” Nike Jordans, Air Force Ones and Dunks. You name it, a true sneakerhead has it – and they also have a shirt to match. Collecting sneakers is not a cheap hobby, but it sure is a stylish one.
Note to students: Thanks
Dear Pierce College Students, I am Jocelyn Chan, your newly elected ASO Treasurer for the 2008-09 year. When I joined ASO, I knew I wanted to be an active senator and do something for the students. Running for treasurer was the perfect opportunity for me to achieve that.
Summer school blurb
As the spring semester comes to its end, students are left with two options: have a 10-week break, or apply to take classes during summer. Many students already know that Pierce College offers two five-week sessions of classes during the summer. “I think summer school is a great thing,” said education major Jamie Quintanilla.
Unprofitable financial aid suspended
Community college students may find it harder to obtain loans because two lenders, CitiBank and J.P. Morgan Chase, have temporarily suspended certification of federal Stafford loans to community college students nationwide, according to the American Chronicle.
