A new superintendent of instruction for the mayor’s Partnership for Los Angeles Schools has been recently appointed. Angela Bass, a top administrator in the San Diego Unified School District, was chosen by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to oversee the six campuses included in his partnership.

The topic of discussion for the ENCORE/Oasis lecture series for the week of March 6 was on a very controversial subject: “Should We Be Allowed to Sell Our Organs: Ethical Ramifications.” The lecture program hosts a meeting every week in the Campus Center to discuss issues that pertain to everyday life.
Football team gets new defensive coordinator
Reggie Smith Jr., son of former MLB player Reggie Smith, has turned a new chapter in his life by accepting the defensive coordinating job for the Pierce College football team. He came to us after coaching at Chaminade High School in West Hills for the past five years.
Bonds for past, present, future
When the Los Angeles Community College District did not get enough money for construction under Proposition A in 2001, they sought out for more. The district went out to the voters with Proposition AA in 2003 and received another $980 millionfor the bond construction program.
ASO ELECTIONS-PART II
The spring elections for positions in the Associated Students Organization have been scheduled for April 14 and 15, with a debate forum scheduled for April 8. The official list of candidates was released early last week. There are four candidates for the position of president: Skyler Grant, Sallay Manah, Christian Marfil and Adam Wade.

Pierce College students flaunt a wide array of colors on campus – their fashion blooms like a cherry blossom. The styles on campus, imbued with spring colors, inspire us. “Fashion is the individual’s internal spirit expressed on the exterior,” said Leonel Mondragón, a former Pierce student.

During a time of uncertainty concerning the cafeteria’s future, Cruz has come to rescue Pierce College with freshly prepared foods and innovative ideas for food service.
