Looking for something to do on Saturday? How about spending the evening at the Valley Cultural Centers free concert performance followed by a July fourth fireworks celebration.

Valley Cultural Center is hosting Councilman Dennis P. Zine’s annual July fourth Fireworks Extravaganza. This will also feature Don Sweeney and the SRO Big Band.

The SRO band is comprised of a seventeen-piece ensemble that will be playing an array of patriotic tunes, Big Band era and pop classics.  The SRO Band was started by Sweeney in 1981 and has played at private functions for celebrities such as, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson and Ray Charles.

Sweeney is known for his 20 years on the Tonight Show from Johnny Carson to Jay Leno as well as many NBC Specials like, The Bob Hope Show, Christmas with Friends and NBC’s All-Star Comedy Hour to name just a few.

The event begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a 26 minute fireworks show at 9:05 p.m. set to music. This is a free concert event so plan on getting there early for the best seating arrangements.
