Joy McCaslin, Ph.D., vice president of student services, was voted interim president of Pierce College today by the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees.
She will serve as interim president for an unknown period of time while a committee begins a nationwide search for a permanent president.
McCaslin replaces Robert Garber, who had been president for more than three years. Garber announced his early retirement last week in order to care for his son, Jesse, 23, who was diagnosed with acute liver failure. He retires Aug. 1.
