TAG Workshop

Jose Romero

It’s becoming harder every year in California to get into a University. But with programs like Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) which will guarantee admission to seven university’s your educational goals could become a lot easier to accomplish.

Amazingly only five students were present for the free one hour TAG workshop that could have potentially helped a lot of students get into the university of their dreams by fall of 2011.

“Not enough students are taking advantage of TAG,” Says Transfer Center Director, Sunday Salter. “In these hard economic times you never know how long a great program like this will be around”

Sharon and Kanny Morgan, two sisters who attended the workshop, found the information and presentation to be very informative and helpful. But unfortunately for them both Universities that they plan on attending aren’t offered through the TAG program.

According to Salter, Universities like UC Berkeley and UCLA are so popular that they don’t need programs like TAG to bring students in.

Salter advices that students should plan ahead, finish their English and math classes early on, stay on top of deadlines and keep their options open in regards to universities and majors.

The TAG program currently being offered at Pierce College can guarantee you admission into the following UC campuses: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz.

TAG is available to U.S citizens, permanent residents, AB540 students, international students and former UC students in good standing, except former UC San Diego students.

The next TAG workshop will be held from 11 am to 12 pm on March 17 in the CTC Workshop Room located on the first floor of the Student Service Building.
