‘Community’ is a comedy series currently airing on NBC about a group of outcasts just trying to get by at Greendale Community College. The show first aired on September 17, 2009 and will end May 20, 2010. It airs Thursday nights on NBC at 8/7 central. The show is created by Dan Harmon who also created “The Sarah Silverman Program.” ‘Community’ shows that you don’t have to be a loser to go to community college. The main character Jeff Winger is a smart-ass lawyer played by Joel McHale (“The Soup”) whose degree has been revoked and in order to survive college orchestrates a group of misfits to help him pass his classes. Jeff and his friend Britta get made fun of by a group of high school students who think it is funny to make fun of 30-year-olds in college. The reality of it is half of the people in community college are not straight out of high school. The show discusses all of the struggles people face while at community college such as fitting in, the cafeteria food and crazy professors.

In the episode “The Art of Discourse” Abel (Danny Pudi), the pop culture junkie, discusses the quintessential college experience by listing the things he wants to accomplish before he graduates. Though they are ridiculous he still manages to accomplish these tasks even if it means being the victim by getting pantsed, getting in a food fight and fighting with the school bully.

One of the misfits Pierce (Chevy Chase), an old man whose life experience has brought him infinite wisdom, makes smart remarks and eggs on the kids to do stupid things like pantsing Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) a middle-aged divorcee with attitude.

A great story and a great cast make this show funny and easy to relate to. It will not be on much longer so if you want to catch an episode tune in to NBC Thursday nights at 8/7 Central or you can watch previous episodes at www.nbc.com/community.
