A mobile bike clinic was hosted on the corner of Owensmouth and Oxnard today, by members of Pierce College’s own bike club where bikers could stop by and enjoy coffee and muffins donated from The Corner Bakery as well as get help with any issues that they may be having with their bike.

Justino Garcia, a 23-year-old Pierce College student began his morning at around 5:00 a.m. with a bike ride from his house in Canoga Park to where he set up his bike clinic.

Garcia got permission to set up his bike clinic on Metro property. He also works part time at “The Valley Bikery” which is a community organization whose function is to help people become self-sufficient bicyclists.

“We’re not a club, we’re a cooperative,” said Garcia, “clubs entail people that ride for events as a team, a cooperative’s goal is to teach cyclists, to make people more self-sufficient.”
