Pierce College’s President of the Poetry Club, Edgar Rodriquez is somewhat of an Edgar Allen Poe himself, more than a Poet, he writes Fiction, Nonfictions and is a musician.

Rodriquez’s intent is to join poetry with story writing, music and art.

“I don’t want to limit the Poetry Club to only poetry but to open all avenues such as, art and music,” said Rodriquez.

At just 20 years old he has already published a poem, “The Sun Cast a Smile on the Generous Earth,” it’s available online at WWW.

“I plan to publish in Pierce College’s Directions Magazine in May,” said Edgar, “As well as this years Latin American Poetry Club’s Magazine.

On the other hand, he predominantly plays the drums and sometimes the guitar for an Indies Rock band called, Kids.

” A couple of our songs are similar to a mix of The Pixies mixed with Black Flag but, it’s really too unique to label,” said Rodriquez.

He plans to host a concert event Saturday at 8 p.m. at 20730 Gault St. Winnetka, Ca. 91306, the event will include; live bands, a D.J. in between sets, and food for a cheap price.

“Admission will be free between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., and just $2 after 8 P.m.,” said Rodriquez.

Aside from music, he intends to fabricate a third person journal about things that have meaning to him, as well as working on a Fiction/Nonfiction novel.

“Literature makes illusions and gives an impression of me through stories,” said Edgar.

He is determined on transferring to Berkeley and pursuing  writing as a career and using its endless possibilities to create a new form of creative writing.

Edgar’s writing is influences by many writers including Anne Sexton, Robert Lee Frost, Radiohead, and his favorite author, George Orwell.

“His Critical analysis of Society and cynical attitude gave me a positive insight to life,” said Rodriquez.

Edgar Allen Poe’s dark humor and vivid imagery influences Rodriquez and his idea to make his audience questions what they can achieve.

“My poetry is like a Frankenstein of other Poets,” said Rodriquez.

 Edgar’s poetry is influenced Everyday by some sort of writer whether they are famous or unknown.

So he will continue managing the Poetry Club and possibly planning to turn it into a two day meeting time; one night we meet for a workshops, and the other for a critical review discussion.

The Club allows all type of poetry and converses about reading and writing unique Poems.
