The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department will be hosting their Active Shooter event this morning at 7 a.m., according to Senior Lead Deputy Ron Nohles.
The event will begin with a guest speaker in the Center for the Sciences building. The lecture, which is scheduled to end at 9 a.m., will be promptly followed by a live fire exercise on campus.
The goal of this event is to help prepare sheriff’s deputies and cadets in the case of an “active shooter” on campus.
“This will help us figure out how to facilitate things if something like this happens,” said Nohles.
The live fire portion of the event will take place in the old Plant Facilities area.
