The Pierce College women’s soccer team, who are the defending Western State Conference Champions, are going to be without head coach Adolfo Perez due to a four game suspension at the beginning of the season.
The suspension was given out by the National Junior College Athletic Association for not turning in statistics properly to prestosports.com, which is the official website for junior colleges to add stats after games have been played.
Perez was part of a statewide crackdown that punished 37 different sports programs in both soccer and women’s volleyball and suspensions were given out at the end of the 2013 fall season.
According to Pierce College Athletic Director Bob Lofrano, he described Perez’s punishment coming from having a “clerical error” then it was in attempting to commit a violation.
Due to the team playing two games in playoffs after the punishment was handed out, the rest of the suspension has been carried over to the start of the next season where Perez will miss the first four games.
The Brahmas will be tested to open their season having to play Santa Monica College and Cerritos College, the #1 ranked women’s soccer team without their head coach.
