Food Review: Vincenzo’s Pizza

Voted best pizza in the San Fernando Valley for 2012-2013 is Vincenzo’s Pizza, a cozy, hole in the wall pizzeria that can easily be passed by anyone driving down Balboa Boulevard.

This restaurant has a classic “mom and pop” restaurant vibe right here in the heart of the valley.

On a usually busy Saturday afternoon, a college football game plays on the flat screen as you enjoy your meal.

The small staffed restaurant prepares one calzone and a few delivery orders for its customers.

All though the staff is small and not all of them speak English you still get the laidback and relaxed vibe that comes from a closely knit group who works together as family. This isn’t your average day job, this is a home.

“You come here it’s like a family, everyone has each other’s back and is here to help each other,” cashier Jacob Kline said.

There are many choices for the American Italian cuisine from pizza and calzones to pastas, sub sandwiches and salads.

Everything is fresh and made to order and the amount of food they give is more than filling, perfect for a college student’s tight budget.

Pizza sizes range from a six slice 14-inch pie to a much larger 28 inch pie ranging between a solid price of $15.75 to a good $38.50 for a 24 slice. If you can’t eat an entire pizza by yourself, a sizable calzone with three toppings can go for around $7.

The choices for topping are endless mushrooms, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and olives to salami sausage, steak, chicken and even anchovies.

Vincenzo’s Pizza also offers a few appetizers like garlic cheese bread, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers and hot wings. If you can’t make up your mind you can enjoy a sampler plate with three different appetizers.

The large calzone comes with a zesty marinara side to-go. A fresh garlic, spinach and salami calzone with a refreshing sip of Sierra Mist can really hit the spot.

The red, green and white color scheme gives Vincenzo’s an authentic American Italian feel and a side bar table top for those who like to enjoy a meal solo.

Although there is very limited room for seating and isn’t necessarily ideal for a night out with your friends, it is great for a quick bite to eat.

Vincenzo’s has been in business for over 25 years and still have customers coming back from the 90’s.

Vincenzo’s pizza is located in 11045 Balboa Blvd., Granada Hills, CA.
