Pierce College seven foot center Beau Brown has been declared academically ineligible after being one unit short of the 24 units needed to play according to Brahmas athletic director Bob Lofrano.
“Beau is a good student and his grade point average is at a 2.8,” Lofrano said. “But when school ended last spring he only had 23 units which means he had all summer to take one unit. That means he could have taken a P.E. class or kinesiology classes but he fell short which is a shame because it was easily attainable to get his 24th unit.”
The Brahmas meanwhile have shown they can thrive without Brown. Pierce currently has a record of 5-3 and are currently ranked among the top 20 teams in the Southern California region.
Pierce will play Glendale College today at 3 p.m. in the Antelope Valley basketball tournament held at AVC.
